Thayne Rich, our White Room in house ski builder and newest global team member, shaped his signature ski, the INTHAYNE, to function as the perfect tool for his style of skiing; a freestyle ski that shines in deep snow. The INTHAYNE is the first of its kind with a wide platform to float through the powder and a turned up tail to allow for confident switch pow landings. It's a full rockered ski with ReflectTech(TM), so the ski will still carve well on firmer snow and also butter with the best of em. If your style is born in the park but you're hungry to take those tricks you've learned to the backcountry, the INTHAYNE is your ticket to a pow-filled fun land. We sat down with Thayne once production commenced to learn more about this project: The reason for building the InThayne was because I loved the devastator but always wanted something a bit bigger for the deep days and bigger lines. I really liked how the Renegade skied but it didn't quite fit my style of skiing because I really like to land backwards. So I mashed the idea of these two skis and that's how I came up with my ski. We released my ski in the summer because last season I was real busy traveling and filming so I wasn't able to be around for the development side of how exactly I wanted my ski to ride. After riding the prototypes that I built at the beginning of the season it was obvious that this had to be added to the line so Matt (Sterbenz) helped me get the necessary press parts to bring this ski to life. It comes in a 186 for now because we are only doing limited runs. We are going to see how much traction and need there is for the one size and go from there. I am thinking of making a few changes for the season to come and we will reevaluate after that. Its fully Rockered with a long slow rising tip with quite a bit of taper. The tail is much shorter and skinnier for a larger landing zone and easy maneuverability in deep snow. I have come to really enjoy fully rockered skis because they edge just fine, especially in powder, but yet make it easy to swivel quickly and shut speed down when needed. The flex is pretty consistent through the entire ski except for the tail. I wanted a stiff tail to be able to stomp with ease and be able to count on the ski holding up through any type of conditions. I love being a ski builder down here at 4FRNT as it adds an entire new connection to the sport of skiing and with the customers that ride our product. It is awesome to talk to people that ski the skis that I built and get feedback from them. It's crazy to travel to so many different places and see our skis being ridden by the people that enjoy good quality products and believe in supporting a true core brand. It's also really fun to be pushing the progression of skiing through product design and prototyping. We are always trying to create the most enjoyment for skiers around the globe and from many different backgrounds; weather you like to get after it in the backcountry or just like cruising the resort, 4FRNT has something to offer for everyone. I am 25 years old and I'm 6'1". I grew up in Salt Lake City, UT; which has provided an epic upbringing for me. Being so close to the mountains has given me the opportunity to get into the mountains often and push my skiing ability. Limited to 25 pairs, each hand built, signed and numbered by Thayne himself.
